Event Description
Life science and health care leaders are invited to immerse themselves in a conversation about the future, examining technologies and approaches that will get us into the revolutionary age of Personalized Medicine. When Dr. Leroy Hood delivered his keynote address at the 2006 LifeScience Alley Conference, participants were struck by the profound impact of his vision surrounding Predictive, Preventive, Personalized and Participatory Medicine. (His 45-minute video clip is still available for viewing at www.hoffmancommunications.com/Leroy Hood) This program aimed at health care administrators, insurers, clinicians, scientists, manufacturers, researchers, technologists, marketers and support service providers will allow participants to more closely analyze the individual components that will play a key role in the Systems Biology approach to health care.
Imagine a world where disease can be predicted through blood tests, prevented through intervention of drugs, devices or lifestyle modification, and treated on a patient-by-patient basis. While this model could dramatically lower the costs of health care, it will require a revolutionary shift in approach on the part of all aspects of the industry. Science can make it possible, but will business and new health care practices make it work?
An address by Dr. Gregory Downing, Director of Personalized Health Care in the Immediate Office of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services will shed a light on the governments commitment to this field. He will be joined by other leaders who represent various aspects of Personalized Medicine, from scientists and technologists to health care providers.
As you engage with others across the broad spectrum of life sciences and health care, you will leave the program with new knowledge, new perspectives and new contacts.
